Day 2 of the 12 Days of Self Care! This is something I’m pretty bad at myself. I’ve never been good at noticing the “small” victories, but I’m definitely getting better! 

We definitely always celebrate those big victories, like getting into college, getting a new job, losing all that weight, whatever it is. It’s like if it doesn’t make a significant impact in our life we don’t recognize it. But there are so many small things we should appreciate and celebrate!

Mental Health and a Depressive Funk

The other day I got home from work with no motivation to do anything. I put my purse down and stared at the medical bills I needed to pay, past the kitchen where dishes sat in the sink waiting to be washed. I walked past my bathroom that probably could use a good scrub, into my bedroom where clothes were strewn around, notebooks on the floor, the bed unmade, and basically a giant pile of mess.

Self care is something that’s become a very popular term recently. When most people think of self care they think of a spa day, pampering yourself, or a full on vacation-esque day. But anyone who’s had days where they just feel like they can’t go on knows the truth about self care. Sometimes self care is sometimes the hardest thing to do, and it might take all day, but it has to be done.

As someone who has anxiety and depression, I’ve had my fair share of days where waking up was even a problem. I could have used some sort of push to have some self care. Sometimes self care isn’t always the most glamorous thing to do, but what needs to be done
