Blogger Secret Santa 2018

Blogger Secret Santa 2018

This year I participated in the Blogger Secret Santa 2018! It was my first time doing something like this and I absolutely loved it! I was lucky enough that the person I was doing the shopping for was someone I had linked to and read in the past, College with Caitlyn.

I was lucky enough that my Secret Santa happened to be the one and only (and the awesome chick who runs this thing!) Abigail!

If you want to check out the rest of the people who participated in this year’s Blogger Secret Santa, head over here.

12 Days of Christmas Self Care: Day 12

Day 11_ Eat Healthy at a Calorie Deficit (in prep for all the Christmas food!) (2)

Day 12: Relax, Recharge, and Get Ready

On to the final day of Christmas Self Care! I did my 12 days so that the final day is Christmas Eve because even if you don’t do anything on Christmas Eve with family, you will most likely do so on Christmas Day. That way you can do everything leading up to Christmas Day!

So what is it you do on this final day of Christmas Self Care? You relax and wait for the chaos to begin!

12 Days of Christmas Self Care: Day 11

Day 11: Eat Healthy/ at a Calorie Deficit (in prep for all the Christmas food!)

Day 11: Eat Healthy/ at a Calorie Deficit (in prep for all the Christmas food!)

I think everyone has had a time where they over ate during Christmas and feel guilty for it. What if you prepped for that and even planned on overeating?! That’s definitely a thing that people do. If you’re in a more fitness inclined community, you’ll know that tracking calories are a big thing.

Knowing exactly how much nutrition your body needs per day with your set physical activity level to maintain the weight you are at, your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), can help you determine how much you could eat at a deficit to plan for all the overeating during Christmas.

By eating healthier at a calorie deficit you can prepare for all the Christmas dinner and Christmas cookies you’ll have.

Day 9_ Take a Long Shower or Bath

Day 10: Up Your Hydration Game and Overload on Moisturizer!

Keeping hydrated is normally something people tend to worry about during the summer, but it’s also incredibly important year round. Especially when it gets really cold and all you want to do is drink warm drinks like tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

During these colder months keeping hydrated and keeping your skin hydrated is super important. The harsh cold weather and the cold winds that come with this time of year can really do a number on your skin.

So for Day 10 I’m going to give you a few tips on keeping hydrated and moisturized!

Day 9_ Take a Long Shower or Bath

Day 9: Take a Long Shower or Bath

You’ve had your spa day, but this time you’re going to give in to taking a long bath or shower. I don’t always get the chance to take long showers anymore because I live in an apartment and sometimes everyone else decides to take a shower at the same time so hot water is scarce.

So on Day 9 of the 12 Days of Self Care you’re going to indulge in a long, relaxing shower or bath.

Day 7: Snuggle Up with some Christmas Movies

Day 7: Snuggle Up with some Christmas Movies

One of the most memorable things from my Christmas’s past is watching all the various Christmas movies that are on! There are so many around that you could spend days watching and still have some left over.

Day 6: Do a Christmas Tradition You Like, or Create a New One

Day 6: Do a Christmas Tradition You Like, or Create a New One

Christmas and winter holidays usually come with their own traditions. Maybe you have everyone over on Christmas Eve to open just one present, or you have a Christmas Dinner every Christmas Day. Or you could bake fresh cookies Christmas Eve, even after you’ve grown out of the “leave cookies out for Santa” age. Whatever it is, keep doing it.

But what if you don’t have any traditions? Personally, I don’t have any, so I’m going to try and start one this year! Here are a few things you can do as a Christmas tradition.

Day 5_ Light Some Candles, Wax Warmers, or Scent Plug-ins

Day 5: Light Some Candles, Wax Warmers, or Scent Plug-ins

One of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit is smell. It’s one of the strongest senses to recall memory. So why not get some Christmas scents flowing through your house? There are so many scents to choose from!

I’m big on smells but I’m terrible at lighting candles or wax warmers. I’ve been meaning to head to either Bath and Body Works or Yankee Candle to get one of their plug ins. I don’t know how potent they are, but I would love to have a lavender scented one in my bedroom and a seasonal scent in my living room!

Here are some of my favorite scents for the Christmas season!

12 Days of Christmas Self Care: Day 4

Day 4: Do Some Exercise

Day 4: Do Some Exercise

Day 4! One of the most important things about staying healthy and keeping up with self care is to keep active. This can mean anything from going for a walk, jog, run, swim, heading to the gym, doing an at home workout… Basically anything that gets you moving for about a half hour will do.

Doing some exercise during the 12 days leading up to Christmas can be beneficial in more than just self care. Exercise can help relieve stress, and this time of year can be very stressful for people. Between last minute shopping, having to plan Christmas gatherings, dealing with family you haven’t seen since last year, or just cramming at work or school, stress levels can get pretty high.

So here are some exercises you can do for Day 4 of the 12 Days of Self Care.
