Skin care is a huge part of my life. I have eczema and rosacea and it seems that my skin has taken to finding more and more things as an allergy than I’d like. So making sure my face doesn’t look like a dry, red, splotchy, itchy mess is a top priority.
In this post I’m going to go into my daytime skin routine. This is mostly face related, and if there’s an interest in it, I can go into my shower routine as well.
Cleanser – Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser
Currently I am using Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser and I haven’t had a problem with it yet! It doesn’t dry my face out nor leave it oily. It really does seem to be one of the best options for someone with really sensitive skin like myself.
I’m almost done with the first bottle of it. I may give something else a try just to see what else is out there, but I will definitely return to this as a staple.
Toner – Trader Joe’s Rose Water Facial Toner
I’m so sad that this is a seasonal product! I totally with I would have known back when I first got it how much I was going to love it. The Trader Joe’s Rose Water Facial Toner showed up in my local store around Valentine’s day, when roses are THE thing to sell.
What I love most about this is rose water has natural anti-inflammatory properties which helps to calm the rosacea on my cheeks and help keep my skin more of an even color. I’m about half way through the bottle after I started using it daily and I’m going to have to find a frugal alternative until I can stock up again in February.
Serum – E.L.F. COSMETICS
Beauty Shield Vitamin C Pollution Prevention Serum
I’m a bit overly protective of my skin in that I’m always looking for ways to keep my skin fresh and young looking (even though I’m only 28!) so when I found this in Ulta not too long ago, I wanted to give it a try. I was looking for a new Vitamin C solution of some sort and this fit the bill.
I absolutely love this serum because it’s super light and I tend to layer a bunch of stuff for both my day and night routine. It’s light enough that I can slap it on but not light enough that I haven’t noticed a difference. 10/10 for me.
Serum #2 – Trader Joe’s Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum
Told you I layer a lot. I started using this far before most of the other products in my routine. It adds moisture to my skin but doesn’t make me feel overly oily. My skin is really good at flaking when I try to put on makeup, but adding this to my skin in the morning has really helped keep that at bay.
If you’re looking for a moisture serum that doesn’t break the bank, try our Trader Joe’s Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum.
Moisturizer – E.L.F. COSMETICS Daily Hydration Moisturizer
I picked this up along with the vitamin C serum because in my case, I can never have enough moisture, apparently. I was still having problems with the occasional flaky skin, so I figure I’d give this a try.
Adding this Daily Hydration Moisturizer to the Moisture Serum Boost has been the perfect combination!
(PS, this is listed as online only, but I definitely found this in an Ulta location)
Sunscreen – CeraVe Face Sunscreen 50 with Zinc Oxide Broad Spectrum SPF 50
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m paler than pale. I can think about the sun and start feeling burnt. So there’s no way I’ll leave the house in the morning without putting on sunscreen, and particularly the heavy stuff if possible.
I picked this up at walgreens, but you can find it just about most places that sell CeraVe. It’s also still summer-ish so sunscreen should still be floating around.
I love that it’s not like some other sunscreens that leaves you feeling oily and gross. This actually ends up a bit tacky and on occasion I’ll forgo primer when doing my makeup and just use the sunscreen!
Well, there you have it. That’s my (somewhat) ridiculous morning face routine. Do you think I’m missing something? Is there a product out there you think me or others might love? Let me know in the comments!
